As the morning glow crests the horizon
I hear them sing.
What joyful music they make
Greeting one another with beautiful song.
Why is that we don't do the same?
Are our lives moving too fast?
Are we too busy getting "ready" for life?
It's said the early bird catches the worm,
but I don't hear these birds giving chase.
What I hear is life.
Each note sung filled with purpose
Filled with anticipation for the coming day
The bird sings its song jubilantly
Telling all, this day I will live.
There melodies start their day,
bringing life and joy to the world.
What would my song sound like?
Would it be energetic like the bird?
Or filled with the grind of daily life?
I shudder knowing the answer,
wishing the opposite were true.
Many wish to be a bird,
To feel the freedom of the wind.
To be a bird, unfettered by the world below
Soaring effortlessly through the blue void of sky.
Beginning each day with a serenade of song.
Yes. I share that wish.
I wish to be a bird.
Leaving behind the woes and worries,
the heartaches and the troubles.
To be human is a curse as much as a blessing.
We are stuck on the ground,
Weighted by life and its trifles.
Although is our life not filled with its own beauty?
Friendship and love, passion and pleasure
These emotions tying us to one another.
Should we not sing a song each morning as well?
Yes, our song should be even more beautiful,
Filled with greater beauty and joy than any birds.
We should express the beauty of our lives.
Through song, through dance, in any way.
We should sing louder than the birds.
We should sing together, as a people
As a species.
We should wake each morning like the bird,
proclaiming with all...
This day I shall live.
Wowza! Love it, dude.
